London East, UK - Interior stylist, Ashlyn Gibson, has turned a former east London industrial laundry into a unique family home using reclaimed materials, some of which were sourced a the Salvo Fair, Henley.
The beauty of the final renovation is down to Ashlyn's creative styling and the reuse of existing materials such as the utility sink, staircase, wood block and timber. The main part of the building now shows off the height and texture of the exposed brick walls, an original part of the industrial space and the addition of an empty frame even makes the wall into art. There are cool design ideas with a moving bar on wheels and the upper floors in a wooden cabin with internal shutters. The space also uses design elements from traditional craftsmanship and Japanese design.
Reclaimed materials were used throughout the renovation which adds to its unique character. Some came with their own past life story like the Nottingham theatre seats.
The Clapton Laundry interior featured in the November issue of Red magazine. Look out for Ashlyn's useful tips for anyone starting out on their own reclaimed renovation project. The Salvo Fair was mentioned as one of the go to places for interiors inspiration. Ashlyn sourced reclaimed wood and industrial lamps at the Salvo Fair.
This amazing reclaimed industrial space is now available for hire as a shoot, workshop, pop up or boutique event location. Ashlyn has written two books, Creative Family Home and Creative Children's Spaces. Published by Ryland Peters & Small. She is also the founder of Olive Loves Alfie, a family lifestyle store.
