Ruby Kay on James Whale radio show

By Thornton Kay

London West, UK - James Whale of LBC Radio interviewed Ruby Kay of Salvo yesterday. The interview will be broadcast on Thursday 29 July 2010 between 4pm and 7pm.

Whales' Wikipedia entry is interesting: He was sacked from a late-night show on TalkSport in 2008 after urging listeners to elect Boris Johnson as mayor of London. Whale participated in a live Newsnight programme on 26 April 2007 on BBC 2, broadcast simultaneously on talkSPORT, in which he referred to two-week refuse pickup throughout the UK and the 'scandal' of global warming. He announced that he believed global warming was solely a natural phenomenon. He described recycling as a joke and believed prisoners should sort rubbish and recyclable waste. When asked if Green councillors were a good idea, Whale replied 'I don't think Green anything's a good idea!'.

With the foregoing in mind you may wonder why he interviewed Ruby. The simple explanation is that the property company which rents Salvo its London office, Workspace Plc, also sponsors Whales LBC show and tenants are invited to apply for a regular interview spot.

Notwithstanding all that, we are grateful to Mr Whale for setting aside his dislike for salvage and allowing Ruby to promote the reclamation cause in London. We look forward to hearing the finished broadcast on LBC 97.3FM James Whale's Drivetime show between 4pm and 7pm.
