London North West, UK - Retrouvius have enticed new designers Fabien Cappello and Daniel Heath, to their salvage yard in Kensal Green, London, for an exhibition which will run from 21 September until 2 October, 2010. According to the Retrouvius website the aim of the exhibition is to 'explore and expand our re-use philosophy'.
The designers brief is to interpret three salvaged materials. 'From our Heathrow Derbyshire fossil stone Fabien is hoping to create a "stone throne". Inspired by the memories, the hellos and goodbyes taken by the 319 million people as they traversed the Terminal 2 concourse. Thin oak shingles are currently being rejoined and pegged to form a wall of openings. Delicate Meranti parquet from the 1950s is coming off the floor and being transformed to make extruded desks and tables.'
