Upcoming modern sale follows last Saturday's architectural

Norfolk, UK - The upcoming modern design sale at Gaze this Saturday has 550 lots with several art fabrics of which the highest estimated, at 300 - 400, is a 124cm by 121cm screenprinted selvedge called 'Arundel' by John Piper (1902-93) made for Arthur Sanderson & Sons, then part of The Wallpaper Manufacturers group in 1960. Piper's stained glass windows were made for Sanderson's new London showroom in Berners Street as well as those for Oundle School chapel which Piper used as the basis for the Arundel design, one of five fabrics designed for Sanderson's prestigious Centenary Collection.

Last Saturday's architectural salvage and statuary sale saw two sculptures leading the way. A bronze barn owl on a post by Kate Denton in 2004, 6ft high, sold for: 2,200 (plus buyer's premium), a composition Madonna and Child fetched 1,100, six large Chinese fish bowls glazed buff outside and blue inside sold for 550 as did a pallet of Indian? 'York' flagstones, and a very large stone trough went for 500. Of the total 569 lots on offer 443 sold gving a sold rate of 78%.
