Oxfordshire, UK - Salvo and Smart Works would like to thank everyone who supported the Friday evening Charity Gala event especially the exhibitors who kindly stayed open for extra salvage and antique shopping time attended by local VIPs and Charity Gala event ticket holders alike.

Smart Works is a UK charity that provides women who are out of work or on low incomes with a free styling session, interview outfit and interview coaching. It helps women to feel confident, look fabulous, succeed at their job interview and move on with their life. Smart Works relies on donations to support clients, and during the fair accepted good quality clothing, shoes and accessories at Salvo's Fair Fashion marquee. Btw we did not forget the men. Any men's clothing donated will be passed onto Suited and Booted, the charity helping vulnerable men get employment and to increase their self-esteem and self-confidence.

Smart Works charity was a perfect match for SALVO 2017 in that it is both a celebration of new starts (we have a 'new' website on the way soon) but also combines with fashion reuse so reducing landfill.

The event was kindly sponsored by Vintage Roots who provided the 'fizz' for the event with Organic Prosecco and Lady McAlpine who provided the delicious nibbles. The Charity Gala event has so far raised a total of 1,376. This is from ticket sales, a raffle, field collection boxes, private donation and a raffle.

Raffle prizes came from Vintage Roots with six bottles of organic wine and another one from the zero waste pop-up restaurant Silo, of a two course lunch which included their venison or veggie Calzone, Pirate chocolate fondant and a choice of drink from the Old Tree Brewery.

Thanks also to all those who gave their small change to the field collection boxes. Plus those who donated to the 'Dalek' collection which raised another forty five pounds for Smart Works and seventy pounds for the local Sue Ryder charity.

Smart Works HQ based in London and the nearest one, based in Reading both came along to the fair and donations have been shared between the two.

Music was kindly provided by Salvo fair helpers Pete Dolan and Michael Morel, who added a bit of didgeridoo to the evening.

A special thank you to Henley Sales and Charter Ltd who contributed five hundred pounds to the SALVO 2017 Virgin Money fundraising page. Do please see our SALVO fair Virgin Money Giving fundraising page, link below, if you would like to add your own contribution. It will remain open for a few more weeks.
