California, USA - The ReUse People of America, a nonprofit 501(c)3 environmental organization, has named Jeff Cockerell its new Warehouse and Retail Manager at the Pacoima CA location. Jeff holds a degree in Residential Building Technology with a green technology emphasis and is a member of the teaching pool and advisory board for green building at College of the Canyons in Valencia. Mr. Cockerell, who helped build Arizona's award-winning, first net-zero energy house for Habitat for Humanity, brings to his position a passion for educating the public about home energy efficiency and the use of earth-friendly products. "I am very excited to bring Jeff on as a member of the TRP team. His proven supervisory and construction skills promise to take the warehouse to the next level in terms of improved merchandising and storage," said Shannon Barnes, outgoing warehouse manager.
Ms. Barnes, who has been promoted to the newly created position of Systems and Digital Media Manager, launched the Pacoima warehouse from an empty building and has worked for four years to make it a thriving and profitable location, posting record sales in 2011. During that time, she completed a bachelors degree in Computer Science and is currently finishing a masters degree in Information Systems. "I started my degree path prior to joining the TRP management team, and it has always been my goal to finish what I started, even if it didn't fit with the current TRP structure. However, I've become a member the TRP family, so I'm delighted the company is making changes that allow me to continue contributing to the organization in a critical way," said Ms. Barnes.
TRP President and CEO Ted Reiff stated, "Shannon took the L.A. store from startup to profitability, so we wanted an outstanding individual to replace her. Jeff, with his strong background in green construction fit the bill perfectly. Now Shannon can use her technology talent to help TRP more effectively manage its national expansion plans."
The ReUse People of America, a leader in the green-building industry, salvages up to 80 percent of materials from homes and commercial buildings through deconstruction, an alternative to demolition. The company channels those materials back into the building industry through retail sales at warehouses throughout the U.S. TRP also provides consulting services to building professionals, educational institutions and local governments, including training programs for underemployed and unemployed workers.
