Re-use Hawaii on TV

By Thornton Kay

Hawaii, USA - Quinn Vittum of non-profit Hawaii Re-use and Thorben Wuttke of Forward Thinking Furniture appeared on Living Lei Chic on Hawii News Now TV. Quinn said that construction waste made up 35 percent of Hawaii's waste stream so deconstructing buildings makes a huge difference.

Thorben, who started at 16 in a German cabinet makers school, after a stint at Re-use Hawaii started his own joinery workshop making furniture from reclaimed wood. All his wood can tell the story of its previous use, he says.

Hawaii TV made the point that they all live on islands and keeping stuff out of landfill makes sense to everyone. The same could be said of the entire planet.
