Queen Victoria's bath for sale

By Thornton Kay

Cornwall, UK - Amongst the 750 lots from the sale of Walter Potter's Museum of Curiosities at The Jamaica Inn in Bolventor, Cornwall UK, to be held 23 and 24 September 2003 by Bonhams, is a c1900 cast iron bath with silver plated taps, one of a number of lots which came to the museum from the sale of the railway memorabilia collection of Sir William McAlpine, reputed to once belong to Queen Victoria and removed from the Royal Train. Most of the other lots are of stuffed animals, birds and butterflies, with advertising signs and other ephemera. Estimates seem to be generally retail to high, with £1,000 to £1,500 put on the bath. Tel 020 7313 3149.
