Surrey, UK - LINDA & Ralph Gardening won a bronze medal for their 'Lost Loved Garden', built by Dan Hill's Tiger Enterprise at this July's RHS Hampton Court flower show. The RHS website says that the garden highlights the importance of conservation and the preservation of buildings and gardens for future generations. Tiger Enterprise Ltd and Victorian Dreams joined Linda and Ralph to create a garden based on the principles of reusing and recycling materials.
An uninhabited derelict building acts as a backdrop for a lost garden that has begun to self-seed, showing that a once-loved garden can continue to look beautiful when nature creeps in and takes over. The textures and colours of the fencing and abandoned items enhance the green, silver and grey colours of the foliage and the pink, white and blue pastel shades of the flowers.
Chris Young of The Garden wrote, 'A nice ramshackle garden with a central bedstead, evocative of a garden that has been either lost or found. The bedstead you can grow things up - sweet peas, broad beans etc. Great use of an old material.'
