Every dog has its day

SIR,-After nearly thirty years in the business I'm moving on to other things. As you may be aware, Colin Scull, who has worked with me for many years, has been in charge of running the firm of Robert Mills Ltd for a while, and as from next month, he will take it over entirely.

I first started buying architectural salvage from churches and big Victorian houses in Liverpool in the mid 1970's, and after various moves and false starts, the present firm started in Bristol about 20 years ago in a couple of railway arches under Temple Meads Railway Station. I am resisting the notion that I am retiring and the implication that, at 57, I am 'old', but I cannot deny that every dog has its day and now I hope that via SalvoNEWS you can convey my greetings to my colleagues in the trade, customers, suppliers, rivals, allies, friends and accomplices.

I am very grateful for the friendship and co-operation I have enjoyed over the years, and I am sure that customers and clients alike can look forward to continuing this relationship with Colin into the future.

Yours etc,
Bob Mills
