London West, UK - Ebony and Co has refloored Louis Vuitton's new flagship store in New Bond Street. The result, the company writes, 'is a tribute to exquisite workmanship, a space of stunning beauty where the boundaries between design, art and fashion are blurred'.
Peter Marino, the New York designer wanted the project to be about 'astonishing luxury and philosophical happiness underlining the Louis Vuitton belief that retail is about emotion'. Peter Marino, in collaboration with Ebony and Co New York, crafted a floor that reflected this.
Their bespoke parquet floors were laid in two areas of the store which was their most expensive retail refit project with a total budget of £30m.
A floor of 340m2 of oak marron were laid in a basket weave pattern in menswear in the maison basement, complemented by hand-woven carpets to match the trademark colour scheme of leathers used in the Vuitton collections.
Another floor, in the private shopping experience 230m2 VIP apartment, was on the second floor in Wenge and gold bamboo, each grass laid by hand. The dark silk finish was created to match the ebony wall cladding.
'Surrounded by original artwork of Gilbert & George, Jeff Koons, Basquiat, Richard Prince, and Michael Landy, Ebony and Co floors are not the first thing that might strike you on entering the building, however the deep richness, uncompromising quality and attention to detail in our bespoke finishes and timber create a perfect harmony with the surrounding extravagance echoing Louis Vuitton's art-de-vivre. It is a must-see for any London visitor,' From a press release by Ebony and Co who supply and fit mainly new and some reclaimed floors.
