Hertfordshire, UK - On Friday 10 and Saturday 11 May, we are holding a huge auction along with our sister company, V&V Reclamation where Wellers will auction over 1,500 lots of architectural artefacts at our Hertford site.
Lots will include architectural salvage, fireplaces, antique stonework, antique ironwork, garden ornaments and furniture, reclaimed building materials, antique cast iron radiators and reclaimed bathroom fittings, antique flooring and room panelling, Yorkstone paving, original doors and other interesting antiques.
There will be a large number of original cast iron radiators including four column, three column, decorative and school radiators and reclaimed bathroom fittings including roll tops baths, sinks, toilets, cisterns and other fixtures and fittings.
Notable items include stunning architectural stonework from the former Knightsbridge Palace Hotel, a spectacular carved mahogany 20ft high doorway from the grand Hampstead mansion of Sir Joseph Beecham at 9 Arkwright Road whose visitors included King Edward VII, superb carved stonework and balusters from Midland Bank building in Victoria, flagpoles from the iconic 1950s Commonwealth Institute, and commemorative keystones from Guys and St Thomas Hospital carved in relief with Florence Nightingale and Edith Cavell.
Also on offer will be a wide selection of restored and unrestored, antique chimney-pieces including cast iron fire inserts, cast iron, stone and wooden fireplace surrounds in a range of styles from Regency and Georgian to early twentieth century.
V&V has the largest collection of reclaimed and antique Yorkstone in the South of England, including a large amount of high quality, sawn Yorktstone reclaimed from the City of London. Up for auction will also be reclaimed bricks including red stock, yellow stock, multi stock and glazed bricks.
The auction will offer a widely varied, expansive and impressive collection of architectural antiques amassed by V&V over the past twenty years and is an essential event for anyone looking to purchase outstanding salvaged items at very competitive prices.
It will take place at V&V's sizeable and attractive site in Hertford, which it shares with Tree Heritage, a tree and plant nursery, and will also be live online on the-saleroom dot com, so if you can't make it on auction day, you can still bid in real time online.
