 Gaze Architectural Salvage & Statuary sale

 

Lot 8739: A pair of iron framed stained and painted leaded glass windows- headed Sir Falstof with figures of Medieval soldiers over Battle of Herrings 1429, and Sir John Servant Payn taken by Jack Cades Followers 1450, each 39” x 15” overall  £250-350.

GAZE auctioneers will be holding a sale of Architectural Salvage and Statuary on Saturday 30 January from 10am with viewing starting at 8.30am. Carl Willows the head auctioneer said, "There is the usual eclectic mix of reclaim, acclaim and frippery. Only 800 lots, so we won’t be frozen for too long! Interesting items scattered throughout the sale. Thanks to all brave vendors. Interesting lots include Lot 8338: A reconstituted sandstone obelisk on plinth (one of two made to commemorate the millennium) approx. 100ins high, estimated at £400-600. Lot 8004: A composition marble figure of a lady reclining, mid 20th Century, estimated at £380-570. Lot 8642: A Victorian pierced cast iron panel, two figures to the centre with elaborate ribbon work and foliate scroll surround estimated at £240-360."

Stopping the decline in salvage – a webcast next Wednesday

Stolen around 80 pieces of stock

APPROXIMATELY £80k of stock was stolen from Glan Conwy, Gwynedd on 20 January 2010 including; 2 19th century lead fountains, 1 bronze dolphin fountain head, 200 to 250 pairs of bronze door handles, 3 brass candelabra, 20 holophane pendant lamps, 16 opaline pendant lamps, 1 18th century dog grate and another 19th century one. 1 marble chimneypeice, 1 teak butlers tidy, 1 coalbrookdale bench, 2 rustic cast benches, 1 bronze stag and doe, and 2 fawns, 1 18th century stone male statue of Hercules, 1 pair of alabaster table lamps, 1 pair of cast garden seats, lead dolphin wall fountain, 1 bronze pheasant statue on base, 2 stained glass panels of birds Victorian, plus smaller ornament and fireside tools, 2 fenders and 2 carved stone urns. SALVO code dealer Thomas Crapper has signed an exclusive three year licensing deal covering the UK, USA and other International territories with the brand consultancy company Golden Goose. The brand specialists hope to launch a range of consumer products from toiletries and gifts to bathroom accessories and paper goods using the Thomas Crapper name and logo.

Gordon Ramsey chooses Trainspotters 

Fulham, London UK - TRAINSPOTTERS helped with the interior design of the new Mansons restaurant in Fulham, London. They supplied a quantity of 1930's French Street pendant lights and hospital wall lights. The wall lights were customized to fit with the existing colour scheme, by re-powder coating them green.

Over 50 staddle stones stolen

Wiltshire, UK - WILTSHIRE police are appealing for information following a series of staddle stone thefts throughout the county. Reports claim that there has been over 20 separate thefts of stones, equating to over 50 bases and tops.

Steptoes combat the bad weather

Accrington, Lancashire UK - FOLLOWING the recent bad weather Steptoes Yard gave customers a helping hand in the unpredictable snowy weather. They acquired a large stock of rocksalt for sale in 25kg bags. They said, "If it's not rocksalt that your looking for you might be interested in our many reclaimed products and the fact that we do not import any of our stone!"

Fulham, London UK - Above: This vintage mechanic’s toolbox was found at a garage sale for five bucks. The legs were found in a dumpster. Now it's a coffee table. If you have some longer legs on hand, tool boxes can also make great desks.
